In the past molten salt technology has been used as a storage method for grid scale solar thermal energy plants in sunny countries. Brabetech has contributed to the development of a new generation of ternary molten salts which we use in our products. The new molten salt offers advantages such as a lower melting point and reduced corrosiveness in comparison to traditional solar molten salts. Next to this, the new salt has a high thermal conductivity, long lifespan and is biologically degradable. These characteristics make our molten salt applicable in smaller scale industrial settings to transfer and store heat.
