About us

Driving the industrial heat transition.

Saltes designs and builds molten-salt systems that let industry store, transfer, and electrify process heat, from a driven team based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven.

The problem we solve

Industrial heat is one of the hardest parts of the energy transition.

Twenty percent of all energy used worldwide goes to industrial heat, and most of it still comes from fossil fuels. Unlike electricity, heat can't simply be plugged into the grid: factories need it reliably, at high temperatures, around the clock, whether that heat comes from waste streams, thermal oil, concentrated solar, or the grid itself. Solving that is one of the largest remaining pieces of industrial decarbonization, and it's the problem we exist to fix.

Our vision

The future of industrial heat is electric and flexible.

Renewable electricity is becoming cheap and abundant, but only at certain times of day. Capturing that opportunity for industry requires storing, transferring, and electrifying heat to align with production schedules, not the other way around. Molten salt is how we do that: a single medium that adapts to waste heat recovery, high-temperature transfer, concentrated solar, and electrified storage alike. We believe the same principles that made solar and wind scale, modularity and scalability, can do the same for industrial heat, across whichever application a plant needs.

Our story

Ten years in the making.

Our journey began at Brabetech, our precursor company, engineering custom installations for the biomass and waste-to-heat industry. That work led us to co-develop a new ternary molten salt composition, engineered to overcome the corrosivity and melting-point limits of traditional salts. Over the following years, we delivered feasibility studies and full engineering projects for customers in plastic recycling and biomass pyrolysis, and research institutes including TNO and DLR.

That work culminated in the ThermalPod®, and in Saltes: a dedicated company built to bring molten-salt heat storage to industry at scale. See our full technology validation timeline →

Our facility

State-of-the-art research in Wijchen.

Alongside our team at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, we run a dedicated test and validation facility in Wijchen, the Netherlands. It's where new salt formulations, charge and discharge cycles, and full system components, ours or a custom project built for your process, are tested under real operating conditions before they reach a customer site.
